  A woman in Russia is offering online “prison survival courses” for people who want to prepare for life behind bars.

  The private service, advertised in Perm, promises to teach clients how to behave in a Russian prison colony or pre-trial detention center, adapt to everyday prison life, and improve their chances of getting approval for parole.

  “Every case is individual,” the ad promises, adding that all conversations are strictly confidential. The instructor describes the video-call lessons as “spiritual practices.”

  Finally, an online course where you really don’t want the certificate.

  Cat Caught Smuggling Drugs Into Russian Prison

  Prison staff in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod region intercepted an unusual suspected drug courier: a cat wearing a homemade collar containing two packages.

  One package held a green substance, while the other contained white powder. Staff called in a dog handler and a sniffer dog named Foxy, which detected the scent of narcotics. Laboratory testing later confirmed that the packages contained illegal drugs.

  The collar was confiscated, but after being examined, the cat was released without charge.

  Remarkably, a similar smuggling attempt involving another cat was stopped at a prison in the same region around a year earlier.

  The courier walked free. The collar did not.

  Russian Region Offers Prisoners $5,100 to Sign Military Contracts

  Prisoners in Russia’s Rostov Oblast will be eligible for a one-time payment of 400,000 rubles, approximately $5,100, for signing a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense and joining Russia’s war in Ukraine.

  Under the regional measure, the payment will be available to prisoners who sign military contracts in Rostov Oblast between July 20 and December 31, 2026. Russian media describe Rostov as the first region to introduce this specific regional incentive for people serving prison sentences.
