Russia’s Mayonnaise Mascots Are Weirdly Entertaining

Sometimes I think I should have named this website Follow the Mayo instead of Hold My Vodka.

At Tyumen’s City Day celebration, giant mayonnaise mascots from Russian brand EZhK (ЕЖК) took the stage with a synchronized dance routine.

The clip later made its way to Reddit, where commenters quickly dubbed them the “Russian Backstreet Boys.” It’s hard to argue with that assessment.

Rostov Restaurant Starts Serving Octopus Shawarma

A restaurant in Rostov-on-Don has introduced an unusual version of the popular street food: shawarma made with octopus.

Instead of the traditional chicken or beef, whole octopuses are slowly roasted on a vertical spit, sliced, and served inside flatbread with sauce and vegetables.

The dish reportedly costs 590 rubles, approximately $7.50.

“Look, comrade sweetie — you asked what a calorie deficit was.”

A Soviet-era grocery store meme: grandma shows her granddaughter an empty fish counter and says, “Look, sweetie — you asked what a calorie deficit was.”

The joke is that in Soviet times, “calorie deficit” wasn’t a diet plan — it was just everyday shopping.
