A Russian sculptor spent years turning the entrance of his ordinary Soviet apartment block into something resembling a fantasy palace.
The entrance is located at 9 Lermontova Street in Abakan, Siberia, and is the work of local sculptor Mikhail Khafizov.
Khafizov transformed ordinary pipes into elaborate columns, added giant Atlases holding up the entrance canopy, and surrounded the building with sculptures including a golden lion and a massive bench. There’s even a roughly 10-foot-tall Gulliver in the courtyard.
He reportedly created the decorations himself and paid for them out of his own pocket.
Meanwhile, your landlord still won’t fix the elevator.
