Moscow’s newest metro station comes with benches that look suspiciously like coffins.

The wooden benches appeared at the newly opened Narodnoye Opolcheniye station, where their unusual tapered shape quickly attracted attention online.

Russian media covering the station have rather more politely described them as “minimalist benches.” Passengers had other ideas.

You can sit on them. You can lie down on them. Just try not to miss your final stop.
